Theresa has campaigned for many years to keep vital services at St Marks Hospital in Maidenhead and to bring in new services for the benefit of local residents. In 2008, Theresa joined with the Maidenhead Advertiser to successfully campaign for a minor injuries unit at St Marks. Having seen a number of services taken away from Maidenhead over recent years, Theresa was delighted that the campaign was able to bring this vital service to St Marks in the form of the new Urgent Care Centre. The Centre is now open and Theresa is keen to ensure that it remains open with optimum services available.
Theresa has also been campaigning to keep mental health services for older people at St Marks following a proposal to move services from the Charles Ward to Prospect Park Hospital in Reading. This would leave Maidenhead and East Berkshire with no local mental health services for older people and would require local residents to travel to Reading to visit relatives needing treatment. Theresa is pressing Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to amend their proposal to keep some services in Maidenhead.
