Theresa raises constituents' concerns with First Great Western
21 December 2010
Theresa May has held a productive meeting with First Great Western (FGW) to discuss the train service in the local area. Theresa received an update on recent developments from FGW’s Managing Director, Mark Hopwood, and raised several issues on behalf of local residents including overcrowding on evening services, the electrification of the line from London to Maidenhead and Twyford, and the potential impact of Crossrail.
Commenting, Theresa said: “It was useful for me to again discuss with the Managing Director of FGW the various issues that are raised by local residents. Although there have been many improvements in the service over recent years, there are still problems to address particularly on peak-time services to and from London. I was pleased to hear that steps are being taken to reduce the problem of overcrowding on these services.”
“We also had a discussion about the impact that Crossrail and the electrification of the line will have on services to Maidenhead and Twyford. It is important that local residents do not lose out from these changes, and I will continue to monitor these issues closely.”
