Theresa welcomes income tax cut for 42,000 people in Maidenhead

Theresa May has welcomed confirmation that over 42,000 people living in the Maidenhead area will benefit from an income tax cut as a result of this year’s Budget, which announced that the amount people can earn before paying income tax – the personal allowance – will rise to £10,000 in April 2014. People in Maidenhead will be over £700 better off every year compared to 2010. Across the UK, 24 million people will see a tax cut and almost three million more of the lowest paid people will pay no income tax at all. Read More

Helping households with their council tax bill

Theresa May has welcomed the progress being made to reduce monthly council tax bills in the local area. Council tax has been reduced or frozen for everyone in the Maidenhead constituency, and new Government rules will now allow payments to be spread over 12 months rather than 10. This move will lower average band D council tax instalments by an average of £24 per month for 10 months, particularly helping those on fixed incomes such as pensioners. Read More

Theresa welcomes action to tackle local congestion

Theresa May has welcomed new investment in local infrastructure from the Government, which will see action taken to tackle congestion on local roads. The Government has today announced approval for a £4.2 million scheme to alleviate congestion on the A404 by converting the Bisham roundabout to signalised crossroads. The scheme will be completed by 2015 and will help to reduce the high levels of congestion occurring daily on all four arms of the roundabout.Read More

Theresa congratulates local Olympians

Theresa May has congratulated the Maidenhead and Twyford residents who have been selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. Theresa welcomes increase in local apprenticeships

In National Apprenticeships Week, Theresa May has welcomed a massive increase in the number of people undertaking apprenticeships in the Maidenhead constituency. Following an increase in Government funding, the number of people taking part in apprenticeships in the local area has risen by nearly 40% compared to the last academic year. The increase in Maidenhead is part of a national pattern which has seen the number of people starting an apprenticeship – many of whom will be young people – increase by 177,000 in a single year.
