Theresa May has reacted to the Government’s announcement that they have again postponed a decision on Heathrow expansion. The Transport Secretary, Geoff Hoon, said today that he would not be giving his decision until next year, despite stating just nine days ago that he would make the announcement before Christmas.Read More

The Environment Agency have announced a U-turn on their decision to get rid of residential lock keepers in the Thames Valley area. After six months of reviewing their initial decision, the Environment Agency has decided to retain ownership of the 52 lock houses that are either on or adjacent to lock sites and thus retain the invaluable skills of the lock keepers. Theresa May has welcomed the announcement, particularly as lock keepers at Boulters Lock and Cookham Lock were both under threat.Read More

Theresa May has written to the Ministry of Defence to question their decision to prevent members of the public sending Christmas gifts to British troops to thank them for their service. Many people, including the local Rotary Clubs in Loddon Vale and Bourne End & Cookham, have in the past sent shoeboxes full of gifts to troops at Christmas time. However, the Ministry of Defence has decided to prevent the packages being sent due to ‘logistical problems’.Read More
