Theresa welcomes extra carriages for FGW train services

Theresa May has welcomed an announcement from the Government that additional capacity will be provided on First Great Western (FGW) train services between London Paddington and Maidenhead and Twyford. The Government has announced the provision of 48 additional carriages, meaning that Thames Valley passengers will benefit from nearly 4,500 additional seats each day on peak services.Read More

Theresa supports local residents’ plan for Furze Platt Conservation Area

Theresa May has given her support to proposals to designate a new conservation area in Furze Platt. The plan, which has been drawn up by local residents, would see the ‘triangle’ created by Linden Avenue, Courthouse Road and Furze Platt Road adopted as a conservation area, meaning that its character and identity could be better protected against inappropriate development. No case for services to be removed from St Marks, says Theresa

Theresa May has responded to an interim report on local NHS services by reaffirming that there is no case for services to be removed from St Marks Hospital in Maidenhead. Commenting on a ‘pre-consultation’ report on the future of local health services, Theresa said that any removal of services from St Marks would be “a retrograde step”, and called on NHS managers to reject the proposals in favour of other options.Read More

Theresa welcomes visit of Olympic Torch to Maidenhead and Bisham

Theresa May has welcomed the news that the Olympic Torch will visit Maidenhead and Bisham as part of the nationwide torch relay ahead of the London Games next year. The torch will travel through the local area on Tuesday 10th July 2012, in between overnight stops in Oxford and Reading. It will first visit Bisham, home of the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, before continuing into Maidenhead. The torch will continue onto Slough and Windsor before stopping for the night in Reading.Read More
