Theresa May has pressed NHS Berkshire for more information on the support that will be available for mental health patients and their families, following a decision to close Charles Ward at St Marks Hospital and move services to Reading. In announcing the decision, NHS Berkshire agreed to provide more support for community mental health services and also to invest £100,000 in a transport scheme to help families and carers get to Reading. Theresa May has expressed her disappointment at a decision to move mental health inpatient services from Charles Ward at St Marks Hospital to Prospect Park Hospital in Reading. NHS Berkshire approved the decision at a meeting on 24th January, following further consultation work that had been commissioned last year in response to widespread concern about the plan. Although the move will cause concern for Maidenhead and east Berkshire residents, the conditions attached to the decision include the improvement of transport services for relatives and carers, and increased investment in community mental health services.Read More

Theresa May has welcomed the visit of Prime Minister David Cameron to Maidenhead. The Prime Minister visited local business Intuit UK and spoke to a number of small business representatives and entrepreneurs. In addition to answering questions from the audience, he used the occasion to announce a range of new Government measures to boost businesses in the UK.Read More
