The UK unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level in 12 years

The UK unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level in 12 years, according to figures released last week.

Figures also show that wages are continuing to grow strongly, and the employment rate is running at a record high with long-term unemployment at its lowest since before the 2008 recession.

Theresa said:

“In Maidenhead, the number of people claiming the key out of work benefits has fallen by over half since 2010 and employment remains at record highs. This proves that the Conservative Government’s policies are making a real impact in the Maidenhead area and that we are making real progress creating a strong economy, helping people into work as a result of greater employment opportunities.

We will continue this work as my Government builds a country that works for everyone – making sure that the system is fair to all those who need it and those who pay for it, and with more people sharing in our country’s prosperity.”
