Theresa welcomes rejection of Sandford Farm development plan

  • 9 Jan 2009

Theresa May has welcomed the decision to refuse planning permission for nearly 500 dwellings and a residential care home at the former landfill site of Sandford Farm, near Woodley.

Theresa commented, “I am delighted that Wokingham Borough Council has seen sense and rejected this application. The area simply couldn’t cope with this development. This number of houses need a solid infrastructure to support them and that simply is not there. The local roads could not cope with the increase in traffic and the loss of amenity would be severe. I can assure you that I will continue to fight to protect the interests of residents of Charvil, Woodley and Hurst against over-development of this site.”
