Theresa welcomes the announcement of £2,950,000 in Government funding for the Woodley/Reading Active Travel Route as part of the Government’s National Cycle Network Scheme.
It is the Government’s ambition for half of all journeys in towns and cities to be cycled or walked by 2030 and this funding is designed to support initiatives including segregated cycle lanes, improved road crossings, school streets, low traffic neighbourhoods and safer junctions.
Of this funding Theresa comments: “It is great to see Woodley receive this significant investment. As we all strive to reduce our carbon footprint and reach net-zero carbon emissions nationally; local schemes like this will play a crucial part of this endeavour”.
