Brave girl's fundraiser to help build Berkshire's children's hospice

  • 13 Jul 2015

Theresa May is encouraging local residents to support a fundraising campaign set up by 13 year old Holly George. Holly is a courageous teenager who is looked after by the Alexander’s Care Team from Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. She has started a campaign asking people to donate £1 for a virtual hug – 1 Million Hugs For Holly. The aim is to help raise £1 million to build Berkshire’s first children’s hospice.

Holly has set up a Facebook page and an online giving page and she is on Twitter using the handle @1mhugsforholly

Holly says: “My name is Holly and I’m 13, I have a life limiting condition which needs 24 hour care, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service helps to look after me and to make wonderful memories for me and my family. I have an Alexander’s Nurse who comes to look after me at home whilst we wait for the first Berkshire hospice to be built. My friends and I need your help to make this happen.”

“You can donate £1 to give me and my friends a hug, we need a million hugs. You can then help by sending my message to every one you know, if I can go viral – and with your help I think I can – we can raise £1m to build our hospice. I can’t manage a physical challenge so I thought your hugs would help me achieve my dream. Please do what you can to help. Thank you.”
