Calling for local people to ‘make a difference’

  • 4 Sep 2008

Theresa May is backing this year’s CSV Make a Difference Day and encouraging everyone in Maidenhead and the surrounding area to volunteer on 25th October 2008.

CSV Make a Difference Day, the UK’s biggest day of ‘hands-on’ volunteering, takes place on 25th October 2008. Thousands of people are expected to take part, giving their time rather than their money to make a positive impact on local communities.

Theresa May said, “Any activity that benefits the local community has my full support and I hope that many people can find a few hours of their day to help make someone’s life a little bit easier. It is always good to see people getting involved with volunteering and people’s contribution of their time will make a real difference in and around Maidenhead.”

Participants take part in activities which range from baking cakes and knitting toys for a children’s hospice, to transforming waste land into a community garden, teaching IT skills or renovating a homeless shelter.
