Competition hotting up for the ‘curry cup’ challenge

  • 19 Feb 2008

Theresa May is asking for nominations for the best Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani restaurant in the Maidenhead area to compete in the Tiffin Cup.

Theresa says: “I am pleased to have been invited to nominate a local favourite South Asian Restaurant in Maidenhead for the Tiffin Cup. The catering industry does much to boost charitable causes and is an important and very worthy part of our local community. So if you know of a deserving restaurant, please get in touch with me. The final winner will be decided by a special cook-in in London and it would be great to see a local restaurant winning the Cup this year!”

This is the third year the Tiffin Cup, organised buy the Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP has run. Last year the winner was the Taj Mahal of Haverfordwest, nominated by Stephen Crabb MP.

Nominations should be sent by 24th March to the Rt Hon Theresa May MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA. Once nominations are made, 10 entrants will be short-listed and invited to a special cook-in at Bellamy’s restaurant in Parliament where the overall winner for the UK will be found. The winning restaurant will get a year’s supply of Cobra Beer and the 2008 Tiffin Cup. This year, the event is being held to support an orphanage in India.
