Good news on Sandford farm

  • 12 Dec 2007

Theresa May has welcomed the decision made by Wokingham Borough Council to turn down plans to build a combined residential and business complex on the Sandford Farm landfill site.

The proposal, which had included plans for 150 new retirement homes, followed a number of proposals for the site that were rejected by Wokingham Borough Council. Local residents in Woodley had expressed concern about the loss of amenity and poor provisions for parking at the development. Residents in Charvil were worried about increased traffic through local roads. The construction of the development would also have dramatically increased the traffic levels in the local area, causing further disruption to residents.

Theresa said, “I am pleased that Wokingham Council has listened to what local people want and has rejected this latest plan for Sandford Farm. The area is a valuable green space enjoyed by local residents and wildlife and I will continue to campaign on their behalf for it to stay that way.”
