Maidenhead's railway - holding GWR and Network Rail to account.

  • 2 Jan 2024

Following the recent problems with local train services which have caused real difficulties for many local residents, Maidenhead MP Theresa May called a meeting with GWR and Network Rail.

After the meeting Theresa said “Most of the problems are down to Network Rail. I have been clear with them how bad the service has been in recent weeks and the need for action. They need to get on with the job of making sure we don’t see the sort of delays and cancellations people have experienced recently.

I impressed upon Network Rail the need to restore a reliable service for Maidenhead, Twyford and the branch lines. These recent delays risk undermining consumer trust in rail travel at a time when we should be encouraging travel by rail.”

Theresa was pleased that both Network Rail and GWR accept that events over the past weeks fall far short of a level of service which is acceptable.

Theresa feels this meeting was productive and she is looking forward to seeing a markedly improved service for Maidenhead’s rail users.
