Opening of the long awaited Elizabeth Line on 24th May 2022

  • 10 May 2022

Theresa welcomes the announcement that after months of delays Crossrail, now the Elizabeth Line, is to open in two weeks on 24th May 2022.

Initially local passengers will still have to change at Paddington, with services through to central London due to start in the autumn.

The opening of the Elizabeth line will see 12 trains per hour operating between Paddington and Abbey Wood from Monday to Saturday 06:30 to 23:00.

Services from Reading, Heathrow and Shenfield will connect with the central tunnels in autumn when frequencies will also be increased to 22 trains per hour in the peak between Paddington and Whitechapel.

When fully operational the Elizabeth Line will bring a greater choice of services to people across the constituency. It also signifies a much needed increase for transport capacity locally while providing an economic boost for our area.

With stations at Twyford and Maidenhead, Theresa is hopeful that the Elizabeth Line will complement existing local transport infrastructure and will make Maidenhead an even greater place to live.
