Progress on Thames bridge project

Theresa May has welcomed Government support for a new Thames crossing following publication of the Thames Valley Berkshire Growth Deal, in which the Government announced that it would provide technical assistance in taking the plans forward.

The Growth Deal, an agreement signed by the Government and the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) last week, confirmed that the Department for Transport will be providing technical assistance to support discussions between Oxfordshire and Thames Valley Berkshire LEPs and local authorities on the potential impacts and way forward for a third Thames crossing.

Commenting, Theresa said: “It is important that the Government has agreed to support the work that is being done to consider the best way forward for a new Thames bridge. This is a significant boost to the project. We now need to see further progress, and I will be working with local MPs, councils and the Local Enterprise Partnership to ensure this can proceed.”
