Theresa comments on government flooding plans

  • 9 Jul 2009

Theresa May has commented on the Government’s new consultation on flooding. Theresa said, “Maidenhead residents know all too well the damage that flooding can cause and I am pleased the Government is taking flooding risks more seriously. However, I am concerned the draft Bill fails to tackle the root causes of flooding.”

“I have been calling for some time for dredging of the River Thames to recommence to reduce the risk of flooding. I also think the Government should accept the impact of planning policies on this issue – we must stop building large developments such as Badnell’s Pit on a flood plain.”

“I also remain concerned about the flood risk posed to parts of the constituency not covered by the Jubilee River, such as Wargrave, Hurley, Bisham and Cookham.”
