Theresa criticises council for rushing through Sandford farm housing development

  • 6 Jan 2009

Theresa May has attacked Wokingham Borough Council for giving minimal notice of an important Planning meeting. The meeting on Wednesday could see the approval of nearly 500 dwellings on Sandford Farm near Woodley. The Council sent an email on 29th December giving people just 7 working days before a final decision is made.

Theresa commented, “I am disappointed that the Council has allowed such a short period of time for objectors to prepare. These plans have been overwhelmingly opposed by local residents at every opportunity and their concerns need to be heard. People recognise that packing in more homes where they are not suitable is not a sensible solution. There is simply not the infrastructure to support such a development at Sandford Farm.”
