Last friday, (25th February) Maidenhead MP Theresa May visited the Friends of Maidenhead Waterways (FoMW)- a charitable group established in 2007 to accept their kind offer to become a patron of the group.

With the help of RBWM and major developers, the Maidenhead waterways project has made major progress. Theresa has been a long term supporter of the waterway, regularly visiting the site to assess progress and attend FoMW events.

On accepting her role as patron Theresa commented: "I was pleased to be invited by the Trustees to become FoMW’s Patron, as the waterway is such a key part of Maidenhead’s ongoing regeneration.

We have always had a lovely riverside area, but until now the waterside was separated from the town centre.

The waterway project addresses this head on, by “Bringing the Thames into town”, for the benefit of residents and wildlife alike. In conjunction with the new waterside developments it is already helping to breathe new life into the town centre".
