Theresa May MP supporting Reading’s bid for City Status.

  • 4 Jan 2022

Maidenhead’s MP Theresa May is supporting Reading’s bid for city status as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

At present, Berkshire does not have a city and Theresa feels granting Berkshire a city is long overdue.

City status can provide places with the chance to gain better recognition and open up new opportunities, as well as bringing a boost to local economies. As such, Reading becoming a city would deliver tangible benefits for Maidenhead and Berkshire as a whole.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a once in a lifetime event which will see the entire country come together and celebrate Her Majesty’s selfless and tireless service.

2022 will be an exciting year for the whole UK and Theresa believes that granting Berkshire a city would be great way for our community to mark the Jubilee.
