Theresa May MP welcomes the restoration of local Berkshire Woodland

  • 24 Jan 2017

The Woodland Trust has taken the first steps in restoring Bisham Woods, near Maidenhead, after funding of £23,107 from the Veolia Environmental Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund.

The first half of this work focused on removing a number of non-native conifers from the woodland and the second half of the work has focused on removing the non-native rhododendron from around a pond that was once the site of Bisham Quarry.

Theresa May:

“I am very pleased that this funding has been allocated to restore Bisham Woods as this is a popular area for many families and a wonderful spot in the constituency.

This grant allows Woodland Trust to start works at Bisham Woods and I understand that this will welcome more native flora and fauna, which will make the woods more vibrant and interesting for local visitors and residents in the area.”

The Trust owns and manages over 1,000 woods, which covers over 22,500 hectares across the UK.
