Theresa May opens new weir as part of the Maidenhead Waterways project

  • 18 Mar 2020

On Saturday 14th March, Theresa attended the opening ceremony for the completion of the Green Lane weir. Completion of the weir lifts water levels throughout the town centre, filling the already enlarged upstream channels, with the new fish and eel passes enabling fish passage through the town for the first time.

The integrated boat rollers will also allow small boats to easily pass up and downstream through the town centre.

At the ceremony Theresa commented: “I have been a long-term supporter of the waterway project and this ceremony marks the successful completion of another stage of the waterway’s restoration. The Green Lane weir will revitalise the town centre and make a huge difference.”
