Theresa presses BT over broadband in local villages

  • 21 Oct 2011

Theresa May is pressing BT to improve broadband availability in the local villages of Waltham St Lawrence and Fifield in response to continuing frustration from residents unable to access improved internet services.

Following Theresa’s interventions over recent years there has been an improvement in services to certain areas, particularly in Waltham St Lawrence, but many people are still without good broadband connection. Theresa has again taken up the issue with the Chief Executive of BT to encourage him to look into the problem and ensure that good provision in made in the near future.

Commenting, Theresa said: “At a time when superfast broadband is increasingly available across the country, and when electronic communication is widely regarded as a basic need in business, I am keen to ensure that no local area is missing out. It is concerning that certain parts of Waltham St Lawrence still seem to be lacking broadband, while residents in Fifield are also lacking certain services. I hope that BT can confirm that these problems are being addressed and that every remaining ‘not-spot’ will be eliminated soon.”
