Theresa raises fears over Badnell's Pit after Corby case

After the recent High Court ruling which found Corby Borough Council liable for allowing pregnant women to be exposed to toxic waste, Theresa May has raised further fears over the remediation of a former landfill site at Badnells Pit.

Theresa said, “This case puts beyond doubt the link between exposure to toxic waste and birth defects. I have contacted the Council to ensure they have a robust plan prepared in case there is a dangerous toxic leak from the Badnell’s Pit site, such as in Corby. No contingency plan exists at the moment to cope with such a scenario, and it is up to Councillors to approve one.”

“Unless the Council can guarantee the safety of people close to the site – and with the current information available, I do not believe they can do that – then this development should not go ahead.”
