Theresa supports Walk to School Month

  • 1 Sep 2009

Theresa May is encouraging local pupils to join thousands of children worldwide this October in celebrating the benefits of walking to school during International Walking to School Month.

Theresa said, “Walking to school is a fantastic way to start the day and a great way of getting some physical activity and fresh air. Walking gives children more time to socialise with friends, get to know the local area, and get into the right frame of mind before the school day begins. I’m encouraging everyone to try and fit in a bit more walking this October!”

The Walk to School campaign encourages primary school pupils, parents and staff to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily lives by walking to and from school wherever possible. Visit www.walktoschool.org.uk for more information.
