Theresa urges progress on Kings Triangle project

  • 7 Dec 2012

Theresa May has urged the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to approve plans to redevelop the Kings Triangle area of Maidenhead town centre, ahead of a crucial planning meeting on 12th December. The meeting will decide whether to grant approval to an outline application submitted by developers, which will transform the area between King Street and Queen Street with new shops, homes and offices.

The planning application was first submitted in November 2011 and has been subject to public consultation. Theresa has previously supported the proposals, stating that they should not be seen in isolation but are an important part of the wider efforts to rejuvenate Maidenhead town centre. She has now written to the Royal Borough’s Development Control Panel to support the application going ahead.

Commenting, Theresa said: “The Kings Triangle site is a crucial one for Maidenhead town centre. These plans are a key element of the wider rejuvenation of the town centre that we all want to see. There are undoubtedly details of the plan that will need to be considered further in the future, but the outline application that has been submitted is an important step and is to be welcomed. If the application is turned down then there is a concern that it will further delay much-needed investment in Maidenhead and set back our efforts to regenerate the town centre.”
