Theresa welcomes approval for Maidenhead waterways restoration project

  • 22 Jun 2012

Theresa May has welcomed the unanimous granting of planning permission for the restoration of the Maidenhead waterways, following a meeting of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead’s development control panel. The five-year planning permission allows the restoration plans, which had been submitted by the Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group and supported by Theresa, to go ahead. The restoration of the waterways is an important element of the rejuvenation of Maidenhead town centre.

Commenting, Theresa said: “I am delighted that the Royal Borough has unanimously approved plans for the restoration of the Maidenhead waterways. As I have previously argued, these proposals have the potential to act as a catalyst for further improvement of the town centre, and their approval will be a powerful statement of confidence in the town’s future. I would like to congratulate the Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group and all those who have put so much effort into developing these proposals.”
