Theresa calls on Heathrow to rule out White Waltham expansion

Theresa May has called on Heathrow bosses to rule out any expansion at White Waltham Airfield, following recent speculation that plans are being drawn up to locate a new airport at the site near Maidenhead. Reports have suggested that Heathrow Airport Holdings have considered proposals for a new four-runway airport at White Waltham as part of their plan for the future of airports around London. Theresa expresses concern about potential increase in night flights over Maidenhead

Theresa May has expressed her concern about a proposal to increase the proportion of night flights over the Maidenhead area. The proposal, contained in a consultation document published by the Department for Transport, would see an ‘easterly preference’ scheme introduced for night flights landing at Heathrow Airport. This would mean more flights arriving from the west of the airport, over the Maidenhead area.Read More

Theresa welcomes Government commitment to a western rail link for Heathrow

Theresa May has welcomed the Government’s announcement that it will provide up to £500 million towards a western rail link to Heathrow, which will provide a direct link to the airport from the Thames Valley region. The commitment was announced as part of the Government’s Draft Aviation Policy Framework, and represents a success for businesses and other organisations who have campaigned for a new western access route to Heathrow in order to ensure quicker transport links for those travelling to the airport from the west.Read More

Theresa meets BAA to consider impact of Heathrow changes on the Maidenhead area

Theresa May has met representatives of BAA to discuss changes to operations at Heathrow Airport that could help to reduce very early morning noise disturbance as well as cutting emissions. The Operational Freedoms trial resumes on 1st July and will allow Heathrow to test a number of operational changes designed to reduce delays and improve the environmental impact of flights. The trials build upon the first phase of the Operational Freedoms programme which ran between November 2011 and February 2012 and allowed a more flexible approach to the operation of different runway modes at the airport. Theresa welcomes cancellation of Heathrow third runway

Theresa May has welcomed the Government’s decision to cancel the third runway project at Heathrow Airport. The third runway, which was planned by the previous Government, would have resulted in additional flights and increased noise and pollution in the Maidenhead and Twyford areas, and was opposed by Theresa and many local residents.Read More
